The academy

Florence Faure

Founded and directed by Florence Faure, Danse Académie Vevey (DAV) is a classical and contemporary dance training centre for everyone from the age of 4.
Dance is taught by qualified professional teachers.

Dance Academy Vevey is structured in two pathways:

A dance school open to the public

Children, teenagers and adults of all levels will discover the pleasure of dancing here thanks to excellent teaching.

A cantonal dance-studies course

Open to young people from the age of 10 by audition, this section allows gifted and motivated students to continue their education with flexible hours and access to an intensive dance program.
These young dancers follow a course of classical and contemporary dance, physical development, as well as preparation for competitions and auditions, in order to open the possibility – if they choose – to a professional career.

During the school holidays, Danse Académie Vevey regularly organizes workshops and master classes accessible to all, under the guidance of internationally renowned guest teachers.

DanCe-Etudes

Created in 2014 under the guidance of State Councilor Anne-Catherine Lyon, the cantonal Dance-Studies sector is intended for all young dancers from the Eastern Vaud region. Comprising three cantonal streams since 2021, this program is under the responsibility of the SERAC-Service des Affaires Culturelles du canton de Vaud (SERAC), who contributes financially to the schooling of the pupils.

L’école Danse-études Danse Académie Vevey is recognized by the FSED (Swiss Federation of Dance Schools) and Danse Suisse. All teachers are qualified in their discipline. They are also certified “Jeunesse et Sport”.

The Dance-Etudes program

Students are accepted by audition into the Dance-études stream. This program is intended for students in years 6 to 11. They can then, by audition, join the Auguste Picard Gymnasium with adapted school hours.
This training requires a predisposition for classical dance, a good academic level, real motivation, a lot of discipline and family support.
Each student receives an individual academic support and benefits from personalized coaching towards their artistic ambitions.
Timetables are established with the coordinator of the Tour de Peilz school. They are appointed by the school administration.
The Dance-études program provides daily training. The hours of training are proportional to the progress of the students. Adapted to the school rhythm, it is flexible according to the requirements of schooling, auditions or dance competitions.

The program includes:

  • Training in classical dance, pointes and repertoire

  • Training in contemporary dance and workshops with guest choreographers

  • Character dance, physical preparation and Pilates classes

  • Dance history lessons

  • Preparation for competitions in classical and contemporary dance

  • Preparations for auditions for pre-professional schools in Switzerland and abroad

  • Preparation for auditions for entrance into professional companies

Pupils from private schools or following their studies by correspondence can access the Dance-études program, on different audition and financial conditions.

Street dance teacher, improvisation, personal development

« Having been a gymnast for more than 15 years, around the age of 16 I started searching for more possibilities for freedom and creativity in movement. I took up contemporary classes, but Hip hop quickly became my passion. I taught myself   the necessary dance movements before entering the professional world of Street Dance.
During my lessons, I offer exercises accessible to all, to awaken their body awareness. I use choreographed or sometimes spontaneous and improvised dance, in order to tap into their own creativity and give them the means to get out of their comfort zone. »
